Research & Development Director

 

For our client, a well-established and innovation-driven product company, we are looking for an experienced Research & Development Director  to lead and further develop the R&D team.

This is a senior leadership role with broad responsibility, combining technical leadership, organizational development, and close collaboration with production and commercial teams. This role plays a key role in ensuring product excellence while supporting future growth and innovation.

 

Role Scope & Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for the R&D organization, including firmware, hardware, and product development teams
• Define and implement the R&D strategy in alignment with company objectives and product roadmap
• Oversee the full product development lifecycle, from concept through validation and industrialization
• Drive continuous improvement of existing products, focusing on quality, reliability, and performance
• Establish and optimize R&D processes, standards, and best practices
• Ensure effective collaboration with production, quality, and sales to support business needs
• Lead, mentor, and develop R&D managers and senior technical experts
• Support hiring, onboarding, and long-term development of engineering talent

 

Requirements

• Strong technical background in embedded systems (HW & FW) and industrial products
• Experience in product-based companies with in-house development and production
• Proven experience in leading R&D or engineering teams within product-based companies
• Hands-on experience working with manufacturing and sales stakeholders
• University degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field
• Proven ability to manage complex development projects and multidisciplinary teams
• Comfortable operating in both strategic and operational contexts
